About Vintage Jackets

It’s important to know that vintage jackets — especially those that haven’t been rewaxed or maintained over the years — often have cotton that becomes naturally more fragile with time. When a garment goes long periods without care, the fabric dries out and weakens.

Because of this, during the cleaning stage (whether dry-cleaned or washed by hand), the cotton is gently stressed. And while the probability is very low, older and already-delicate areas may show small reactions such as tiny micro-tears or pinholes. These can always be repaired, but it’s important to be aware of this when working with true vintage pieces.

Almost all jackets respond very well to the treatment, regaining depth and protection — but transparency matters, and it’s right that you are informed about how aged cotton behaves.
