Exceptional vintage Barbour x Backhouse raincoat from the 1990s, crafted in 100% waxed cotton and produced in collaboration with the iconic New Zealand brand Backhouse, specialists in wet-weather garments.

 This coat is inspired by traditional equestrian and outdoor riding gear, featuring the unmistakable shoulder cape (mantellina) — a defining element of these jackets — designed to provide extra protection from rain and wind. The rear leg-opening system allows full freedom of movement while riding, making it a true functional riding coat.

Often referred to in the 1990s as the “Drizabone” style — meaning “dry as a bone” — this jacket was engineered to keep the wearer completely dry in the harshest weather conditions.

For the most accurate fit, always compare the measurements provided with a jacket you already own.

Men’s Size Guide (approximate):

  • S: C34 – C36

  • M: C36 – C38 – C40

  • L: C40 – C42 – C44

  • XL: C44 – C46

  • XXL: C48 – C50

As a quick reference: a C38 usually corresponds to an EU 48, and so on.

Women’s Sizes – Important Note:

Women’s vintage Barbour sizing varies even more depending on the model (Utility, Beadnell, Border, etc.). As a rough guide:

  • UK 6–8 ≈ XS–S

  • UK 10–12 ≈ M
